Claire Perry MP and Transport Minister praises the remarkable rise of rail freight

Claire Perry, the Transport minister responsible for rail freight praised the remarkable rise of rail freight and how it contributes £1.6 billion each year to UK PLC. She also talked about its potential to grow and how the Government is committed to infrastructure investment to stimulate the economy. She talked about the new opportunities and challenges for rail freight and asked the industry to let her know what it needs to meet its forecasted growth targets.
It helps reduce road congestion, is significantly safer and less polluting than road haulage and it is highly reliable.
